Archie Wayman Nix, age 90, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012. Born on October 8, 1922 in Cullman, AL, a resident of Gulf Shores, AL and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores.
Archie was a WWII Navy Engineer Chief Petty Officer Veteran and a retired minister. He married Katheriene Butts in 1942, they reared four children in Mobile, AL where he graduated from Mobile College in 1969. In 1978 he and Katheriene were the proprietors of K & B Art Studio in Oneonta, AL. When he retired he and Katheriene moved to Gulf Shores where he worked as a carpenter. He also was a huge Alabama fan.
Mr. Nix was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Daniel Nix; mother, Leatha Eugenia Nix; brother, Charles Alfred Nix, and wife of 67 yrs., Katheriene Nix.
He is survived by one half brother, Alfred Brady (Ethel) Nix; children, Mary Katheryn (Rudy) Gulsby of Atmore, Barbara Jo (Russell) Lancaster of Foley; Patricia (David) Dunn of Pelham and Michael Wayne Nix of Gulf Shores; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, Friday, December 28, 2012, at 2:00pm.
Interment will follow in Pine Rest Memorial Park.
