US Congressman. Born in Belleville, Richland County, Ohio, he was educated at the Ohio Wesleyan University, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice in Elyria, Ohio. He moved to Delaware, Ohio, in 1861 and was a member of the Ohio State Senate in 1870. In 1875, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fourth Congress, serving until 1877. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 64 in Delaware, Ohio.
