Ada was born 30 Jan 1856 in Buffalo NY to Garret and Laura A. Lansing. Her siblings were Sylvester, Julia Safford, Hattie Sales and Jennie J. Tuthill. John H. Bigelman and Ada Helen Lansing married 20 Nov 1873 in Buffalo NY and settled in Troy NY where they had nine children .... Laura Bigelman-Calhoun (1875-1961), Walter (died at 1 mo.), Gertrude Bigelman-Brown (1878-1958), Grace Bigelman-Bailey (1880-1952), Howard (1886-1964), John (1888-1922), Bertha (1881-1892), Frank (1893 died at 4 mos.), and Cora (1895-1990). John and Ada left no grandchildren under the Bigelman surname but the Calhoun, Brown and Bailey family lines have continued.

Ada's family moved to Troy NY where later her sister Jennie J. Lansing married Clarence Tuthill, who along with his father Daniel Luther Tuthill and brother Edward Tuthill, were civil war veterans of Company 1 - 7th NYS Heavy Artillery.
