U.S. Congressman. He engaged in the retail shoe business, real estate and was vice president of the Peoples National Bank. During World War I, he served with the Young Men’s Christian Association, stationed at Camp Sheridan, Alabama, (1917-18). After the war, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth Congress and to the next six succeeding Congresses, serving (1919-33). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resided in Washington, D.C. and later Maryland, until his death.
