Mrs. Lillie Mae Roach Garvin, wife of Henry Pierce Garvin of 9-D Mountain View Homes, died in a local hospital at 7:50 am yesterday after a short illness.

She was a native of Walker County, Ga. and was a daughter of the late John and Nancy Ellen Tipton Roach. She spent the greater part of her life here and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Perry Lee Garvin of Greenville; three daughters, Mrs. Ellen Harris of Key West, Fla., Mrs. Queenie Chapman of Memphis, Tenn, and (stepdaughter) Mrs. Nettie Samuels of Graniteville; a half-sister, Mrs. Elgin Conway of Rome, Ga; one half brother, Walter Roach of Rome, Ga; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 4pm in Tabernacle Baptist Church by the Rev. Harold B. Sightler. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be R.B. Phillips, Earl Samuels, Eugene Seigler, Earl Creasman, Heyward Smoak, and G.C. Lollis.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the church's board of deacons.
