His father died when he was five years old. Two years later his mother married A.A. Hiatt.

He attended the Chickasha Business College and then was editor of the Cyril Express.

After military service in Honolulu, Hawaii, he returned to Verden where he owned a business.

He found that indoor work was disagreeable with his health so he went to Missouri to work as a ranch hand.

He was kicked by a horse on Tuesday morning and died the next day.
