Oliver Floyd Chalstrom, 77, died Jan. 10, 1974 at Lakeland General Hospital at Lakeland, Fla. where he and his wife were spending the winter months.

O.F. was born July 8, 1896 at Gowrie, Iowa to Albin and Lena Chalstrom. The family moved to Spirit Lake in 1910 and he graduated from Spirit Lake High School, given recognition in football.

He served in the U.S. Navy from May, 1918 to Sept. 1919 with overseas duty.

The family lived in the Spirit Lake area and in 1949 Mr. Chalstrom purchased what is now known as Chalstrom Trailer Court on East Lake Okoboji and retained this property until ill health forced the sale in 1972.

He affiliated with the Spirit Lake VFW, was a 50-year member of Twilight Lodge No. 329, A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, Abu Bekr Temple and the Lakeland Shrine Club.

His survivors include his wife Alice; son Jams Chalstrom of Ames; two grandchildren and nephew John Chalstrom of Spirit Lake. He was preceded by his parents, an infant daughter and brother Harold.

The services were held at the Harpole-Tenold Chapel in Spirit Lake Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ralph E. Baker officiating. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Mrs. Goodwin Thoreson was organist and Mrs. Adelyn Miller soloist.

Pallbearers were James Johnson, Ed W. Anliker, Lawrence Osborne, Archie Danielson, Bob Cornell and Ford Wright.
