Allen Dale Harness, 62, passed away at 10:15 a.m., Monday, April 18, 2011, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Michigan City, Indiana, following a courageous battle with cancer.
On November 24, 1948, in La Porte, Indiana, Dale was born to Elbert W. and Virginia (Okrzesik) Harness, who preceded him in death.
Dale enjoyed travelling to different states, being outdoors, and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by daughters Holly (Brian Cable) Harness of Hamlet, Indiana; Kelly (Brian Steele) Owens of South Bend, Indiana; Dawn (James) Lewis of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; and Crystal (Richard) Byrd of Edinburgh, Indiana. He is survived by sons John (Crystal) Center of Jacksonville, Florida; Jeff Center of Donaldson, Indiana; and Eric Sanchez of Edinburgh.
Survivors also include sisters Sheila (Joe) Adams of Rolling Prairie; and Linda (Joaquin "Yogi") Torres of La Porte.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Avenue, La Porte, with Pastor Ron Davenport officiating.
Viewing will be Thursday morning beginning at 9 a.m. until time of the service.
