She was born on Sept. 27, 1903, in the town of Dewey to Charles and Emma (Stoecker) Merchant. She attended school at McCarty School and Shell Lake High School.
Leona married Leo Reinhart on Sept. 27, 1928, in Minneapolis. They resided in Shell Lake.
Survivors include one daughter, Elaine (William) Hurd of LaCrosse; two grandchildren, Janean (Mike) Lang of Stoddard and Scott (Connie) Hurd of Tomah; three great-grandchildren, Melissa, Cory, and Benjamin; one sister, Mabel Allen of Shell Lake; and one sister-in-law, Florence Merchant of Shell Lake.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo, in 1978; three brothers, Allen, Benjamin, and Kenneth; and one infant brother.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at Pockat Funeral Home in Shell Lake, with Rev. Charles Wendt officiating. Burial will be in Shell Lake Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pall bearers will be Mike and Cory Lang, Scott Hurd, Gene Parker, Brad Pedersen, and Steve DesJardins.
