WOLCOTT — Karen L. (Schmidt) Conrod, 51, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2011, at Saint Mary's Hospital.

Karen was born in Germany on March 15, 1960, and was the daughter of George and Natalie (Fanion) Schmidt. Born and raised in Wolcott, she attended local schools and was a graduate of Wolcott High School, class of 1978. Karen attended Tunxis Community College in Farmington and was employed at The Pines as a dedicated nurse's aide. She loved to do arts and crafts and enjoyed days at the beach.

In addition to her parents, Karen is survived by two sons, Jesse M. Conrod and Jordan Conrod, both of Wolcott; a daughter, Megan S. Conrod of Waterbury; a brother, Brian P. Schmidt of Southington; and two granddaughters, Aubree and Hailee.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, with the Rev. Kristen J. Kleiman officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
