PORT ARTHUR - Mrs. Ira M. Powell, a former resident of Borger, died Jan. 7 in Port Arthur. Mr. and Mrs. Powell lived in Borger from 1937 to 1941. He served as music and education director of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Powell was church pianist and worked with youth groups.
Mr. and Mrs. Powell have made their home in Irvin for the past year.
Memorial services were held Sunday in Beaumont with interment Monday in Restlawn Cemetery in Dallas.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her husband and three children, Dr. Ira C. Powell, Columbia, Mo., Mrs. Bob Gooding, Irving, Miss Fran Powell, Nashville, Tenn., and six grandchildren.
