SANDY RIDGE— Robert Grady Amos, 87, of 1783 NC 770 Hwy., died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Moses Cone Hospital.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Funeral Home with Elder Millard Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Cemetery at Sandy Ridge with military rites.
Mr. Amos was born in Stokes county on Aug. 30, 1916 to the late Charles and Nannie Shaffer Amos. He was a lifelong farmer and was retired from Washington Mills, Inc. He was also a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, David, Lewis, Lindy, Leroy and Russell Amos, sisters Alice Joyce, Mary Amos and Nellie Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois Joyce Amos of the home; son Robert Delane Amos and wife Kathy of Sandy Ridge; daughter Angelena Hunsucker and husband Darrell of Jamestown; brother Charles Amos of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Lauren and Kayla Amos, Ashley and Allison Hunsucker; step-granddaughter, Christy Hutchens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
