Born on June 18, 1947, in New Iberia, Mrs. Jan attended school in Plaquemine, and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing, feeding people and going to garage sales and flea markets. Known for her famous peanut butter fudge, Mrs. Jan's door was always open to anyone. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Arthur Touchet Jr., of New Iberia; mother, Emily "Jane" Gray of New Iberia; daughters Tammy McGinn and husband, Scotty McGinn Sr., Josey Verret and husband, Brent, Jenny Derouen and husband, Wayne Derouen Jr., all of New Iberia; a special sister who looked upon her like a mother JoAnn Koch and husband, Robert Koch Jr., of New Iberia; half brother James Moore Jr. of New Orleans; half sister Mona Lester and husband, Ed, of Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers-in-law Vernick Delahoussaye and wife, Vernice, of New Iberia, Joseph "JC" Delahoussaye and wife, Wyva, of New Iberia; grandsons Matthew Verret, Alex Verret, Scotty McGinn II; several nieces and nephews that had a special place in her heart; and her special cat, Sassy.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Case Jr.; biological father, James Moore Sr.; maternal grandparents, McDowell and Josephine "Josey" McFadden Gray; paternal grandparents, George Case Sr. and Thelma Larson Case; husband's parents, Arthur Touchet Sr. and Olite Gary Touchet.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd. in New Iberia. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Robert Koch, Lee Gondron, Randy Moses, LeRoy Gary, Justin Derouen, Keith Delahoussaye and Kurt Delahoussaye.
Honorary pallbearers include Matthew Verret, Alex Verret, Scotty McGinn II, Brent Verret, Wayne Derouen Jr., Scotty McGinn Sr. and Wade Delahoussaye Jr.
