Philip Cain Young,
58, of Maysville, KY, formerly of Elkton, KY went home to be with the Lord on Sat, April 16, 2011 after a brave battle with liver and kidney disease. He was awaiting transplant at the UK A.B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington before being moved to Hospice care at the Markey Cancer Center. Phil was born in Todd Co. On July 20, 1952. He is survived by two brothers, Jimmy of Old Hickory, TN, Paul of Elkton, KY and a sister Linda of Tallahassee, FL, a special cousin Emily Gholson and her husband, Tony and their children, Logan and Paxton of Owensboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, David "Spike" and Dona Cain Young, as well as a sister, Phyliss. Phil was a 1970 graduate of Todd Co. Central High School in Elkton. He was a member of Elkton Baptist Church. He held various positions with Hanson Aggregate in many locations during his 34 years of service with them, the last being Quality Control Supervisor. Phil also had a special love for horse racing and sports, especially the University of Kentucky Wildcats! A casual celebration of life service will be at Latham Funeral Home, 413 East Main Street, Elkton, KY at 2pm on Sat, April 23, with burial in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation for the family will be Sat at 8am with friends being welcomed after 9am. Pallbearers will be special, longtime friends, King "Doc" Riley, Steve Dickerson, Mike Powell, Mitch Crawford, Johnny Hanks and Todd Young. Honorary bearers will be Rod and Susan Johnson, Connie Hanks, Christy Powell, Mick Griffith. In lieu of flowers contributions may be mailed to " Relay For Life " Anderson Co - c/o Derek Ruble, 106 Hamlin Way, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342. Phil was a cancer survivor for many years and a supporter of this event.
