August 15, 1907

Died, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Harmom southeast of this city, Monday August 11, 1907, Mrs. George A. Shively, aged twenty four years and eight months, and her little three months old son. The mother had been suffering but a few weeks but had been threatened with consumption for the past two years.

All the care and love that skilled physicians and anxious relatives and neighbors could devise and apply for her comfort and assistance were brought into play, but the fiat of Him who rules our incomings and outgoings had been issued after a brief struggle, despite the prayers and entreaties of all who knew and loved her, their appeals were overruled and on Monday afternoon the sufferer's spirit took it's flight to that home the Christian believes is the fulfillment of the life everlasting.

When the bloom of childhood was blooming into the blush of refined womanhood she had sought the pearl of great price and made it chief among the jewels of her youthful hopes. The intervening years have been full of consistent plan and wise action.

This was the foundation of the maturity of her character. For upon the white canvass of her life she drew no uncertain lines which needed to be erased.

She ran the journey of her life in twenty four years. It is a path marked with deeds of kindness and cheer. Flowers not thorns, sunshine not shadow, did she scatter everywhere. With these she was lavish. Truth was the inspiration of her life and by kindness she exemplified its great worth. Was not her life full of Godlikeness?

The funeral services were held at the Baptist church Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, Rev. Harmon officiating. Songs were touchingly rendered by the choir of the Baptist church. Her and her little son were put too rest in one casket in our Silent City south of this city immediately after the services.

To the broken hearted father, mother, sisters, husband, two children and other relatives who sit in sorrow where her footsteps shall never again find echo, we extend the sympathy of the entire community.
