Mr. Glyn B. Cook, age 89, of Crockett, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 in Crockett. He was born September 19, 1921 to William Hull Cook and Minnie Mae Brewton Cook of Porter Springs and lived in Houston County where he graduated from Crockett High School in 1938. On February 1, 1941 he married his sweetheart Georgie Lavenia McDonald and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. He was a World War II U. S. Army veteran having served in the China-Burma-India Theatre. After his return from the war he and his wife and three young sons lived in Nacogdoches before locating to Houston where he worked for Armco Steel until his retirement in 1977. He enjoyed his retirement years living in the the Ash Community, working in his garden, tending his livestock, and volunteering in the Ash and Austonio communities where he had many friends. He attended the Ash Church of Christ with his wife.

He was known in the community as "B" Cook, but his grandchildren affectionately called him Pawpaw. They loved and respected him and always knew there was room for one more on "Pawpaw's knee." He loved and was proud of them.

Preceded in death by granddaughter, Anna Caryn Cook; parents, William Hull Cook and Minnie Mae Brewton Cook; four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services for Mr. Glyn B. Cook will be held Monday, April 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Sunday evening 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 1100 W. 49th Street Room #G408, Austin, Texas 78756.
