Mrs. Mary Rita Duckett, 73, widow of Willis Duckett, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at St. Authony Hospital after an illness of several months.
Requiem mass will be offered by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. P. T. Lynch at St. Joseph's Church at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Twit funral home with members of the Senior Immaculata Guild of St. Joseph's Church present in a group Thursday night.
Mrs. Duckett, a native of Bohemia, was born Mary Rita Bartosh, daughter of Joseph and Mary Marhoun Bartosh, March 25, 1884. In 1885 she came to the United States with her parents, who settled at Pocahontas. She attended school there.
In 1907 the family moved to the Parsons ranch west of Carroll.
Mrs. Duckett's first marriage was to Anton Aigner, the ceremony taking place in SS. Peter and Paul's Church at Pocahontas. They were the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Lillian Schnetter, of Albert City. Mr. Aigner died in November, 1911.
She married Peter Daiker Feb. 10, 1913, and they farmed in Carroll County. Born to them were two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Ed (Agnes) Polking, Breda; Mrs. Elmer (Theresa0 Snook, Carroll; Frank Daiker, Carroll, and Walter Daiker, Wall Lake. Mr. Daiker died Feb. 18, 1945.
Her marriage to Mr. Duckett took place March 30, 1948, at Sacred Heart Church in Pocahontas, with the late Rev. George Wessling officiating. They lived at Dayton before moving to Carroll six years ago. For the last six months, Mrs. Duckett had resided at 427 East Third Street. Mr. Duckett died April 8, 1957.
In addition to her sons and daughters named, Mrs. Duckett is survived by 19 grandchildren; two brothers, Joe and Frank Bartosh, both of Pocahontas; and two sisters, Mrs. Christine Dady, Emmetsburg; and Mrs. J. G. Marhoun, St. Paul, Minn.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the Senior Immaculata Guild of the parish.
