Sidney S. Armstrong, 58, of 816 Brookside Ave., died yesterday morning in a local hospital after two years' of declining health.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the Central Avenue Methodist Church, of which he was a member, and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The services will be conducted by Rev. C. C. Benton, pastor of the church.
Born in Mecklenburg County on October 27, 1894, he was the son of the late Sidney A. and Lenora Alexander Armstrong. He attended the Mecklenburg County schools and Burnsville College at Burnsville, N. C. He served as a salesman with the North Carolina Mercantile Company for the last 15 years.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Bannar Brown Armstrong; two sons, James P. Armstrong and Henry D. Armstrong, both of Charlotte; a sister, Miss Daisy Armstrong of Charlotte; a brother, Frank H. Armstrong of Charlotte; and a granddaughter.
Active pallbearers at the funeral today will be Charles Armstrong, Sidney Armstrong, Bob Armstrong, Travis Phillips, Don Brown, and Craig Brown, nephews of Mr. Armstrong.
Honorary pallbearers will be employes of the North Carolina Mercantile Company and Albert B. Berry, W. H. Kelly, J. E. Taylor, Clyde Biggers, Jim Boling, Vinson Eddins, J. W. Sides, J. V. Williams, and G. A. Eades.
The body is at Douglas and Sing Mortuary and will be taken to the church this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock.
