Ruth Cooper Owens, age 75, of Brevard, North Carolina, died Saturday January 15, 2011 at Memorial Mission Hospital, Asheville, North Carolina. She was born July 25, 1935 in Transylvania County, North Carolina to the late Arthur William Cooper and Cora McCrary Cooper. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy O. Owens, five brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Owens was retired owner and operator of 1 Hour Martinzing Cleaners and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was employed at Transylvania Regional Hospital, former resident manager at Brevard Motor Lodge, and Quick Way.
Survivors include one son; Carroll Owens and his wife Deborah of Crouse, North Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Smith and Mrs. Paula McCall both of Brevard, North Carolina; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 18, 2011 at 2 p. m. at Grace Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Pisgah Gardens, Pisgah Forest, North Carolina. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
