He was born in Scott County, Va., on Dec. 13, 1909. Pat served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was owner and operator of City Esso Station (Gate City) with his brother, Delaney, for approximately 34 years.
Mr. Herron was a believer in Christ and was baptized at an early age.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Natalie Herron (1976); parents, Hiram and Betty Elizabeth Smith Herron; great-grandchild, Kyle Christopher Herron; three sisters, Pearl Lane, Lona Smith, Callie Smith; two brothers, Thomas and Robert Herron.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Linda Herron, Gate City; grandchildren, Brian Herron and wife Cindy, Venice, Fla., Brent Herron and wife Carol, Gate City; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Derek Herron, Tampa, Fla., Ryan Johnson, Tampa, Fla., Camryn and
Trevor Herron, Gate City; brother, Garland Herron, Gate City; brother and sister-in-law, Delaney and Lucy Herron, Gate City; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., and anytime at the son's residence.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Pastor John Shepard officiating.
Music will be provided by Judy McConnell and Buford Hensley.
Military graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holston View Cemetery conducted by American Legion Post 3/265.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Herron, Delaney Herron Jr., Bill Herron, Brian Herron, Brent Herron, Fred Helms, Jim Blaylock, Jerry Broadwater, and Bill Hammond.
Honorary pallbearers will be T.L. Herron and Danny Herron.
