GATE CITY, Va. - Garland C. Herron, 85, passed away Saturday (Jan. 3, 2004) at his home.
He was born in Scott County, Va., on March 13, 1918.
Garland served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was owner and operator of Clinch Motor Co., Gate City.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ossie Herron; parents, Hiram and Betty Elizabeth Smith Herron; three sisters, Pearl Lane, Lona Smith, Callie Smith; three brothers, Thomas and Robert Herron, Patton H. Herron; one son-in-law, Mike Hartgrove.
Surviving are his daughter, Dana Hartgrove, Kingsport; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Pat (Tickey) Herron, Gate City; one brother, Delaney Herron, Gate City; grandchildren, Scott Herron and wife, Cindy, David Herron and wife, Barbara, Brandon Herron, Danny Herron, Ginger Tipton; great-grandchildren, Shawn Herron and Wes Scarborough.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va. Eulogy will be given by Jamie Sexton.
The family will meet at the cemetery for graveside services.
