An Old Resident Gone.

Mrs. Abbie F. Adams, a former resident of Howard, died at her home in Cincinnati, Ohio, April 4. The remains were brought to Howard last Saturday, and laid to rest beside her husband in Grace Lawn cemetery. Mrs. Adams' maiden name was Fuller. She came to Howard in 1871 with her husband, Chas. T. Adams, and they lived here till his death in 1881, and some time after that Mrs. Adams returned to her former home in Cincinnati, where she has lived since. One son was born to them in the early years of their residence in Howard - Hobart Adams, who grew to manhood, married and died some years ago, leaving two or three young children. Mrs. Adams' husband C.T. Adams, was we believe the first postmaster of this city, and served seven or eight years. He conducted a general merchandise establishment and hardware store about where Russell & Holcomb's store now stands. Mr. Adams was a splendid citizen, an ex-soldier, and accumlated quite considerable property. A farm or two north of Howard was still owned by Mrs. Adams until comparatively recently. Mrs. Adams was prominent in the social and religous life in Howard in the early days, sang in the churches and played the organ in the Sunday schools, and was active in all such matters. She always retained a warm interest in Howard's affairs. She has visited here many times during the years that have intervened since she left Howard. For the past year or two she has been in failing health, and she became almost a nervous wreck some time ago. She will be long remembered most kindly by her friends of the early days. Her remains were accompanied to Howard by her nephew, M.F. Little, an attorney of Cincinnati.
