PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL – George J. Phillips, 79 of Ravena, passed away peacefully in a state of Grace on Monday July 2, 2018. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. George retired after 37 years of service to the railroad. His career started at New York Central, continued at Penn Central and culminated in retirement from Conrail in 1999.

On November 5, 2013 George joined the Roman Catholic Church receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation.

George was an avid NY Yankee fan. He most enjoyed outings with his son and daughter-in-law.

Survivors include his son Frederick G. Phillips and daughter-in-law Susan; grandchildren, Nichole McKay and her husband, Dan and Steven Phillips; siblings, Ed, Mary, Glen and Ronald ("Ricky and wife, Ginny"). There are also several cousins, nieces, nephews and attentive in-laws. George was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dena Phillips, son Daniel Phillips and siblings Earl, Margaret, May and Wendy.

George was interred at Chestnut lawn Cemetery following a Roman Catholic graveside service and Military Funeral Honors. Services were held privately.
