Raised in Yuma, she was a member of Valley Baptist Church and graduate of Kofa High School. She lived in Phoenix, working for Insurance Services Office for more than 20 years. She actively served at Heart to Heart Bible Church, working in children's ministries and helping with numerous wedding receptions. In 1994, she moved to her much-loved Humboldt, and worked for Wolfe Publishing until her battle with cancer prevented her. She was currently Circulation Manager. Melinda continued to faithfully serve at churches: Central, Faith, and then Lighthouse Baptist. She headed up missions programs, corresponded with missionaries throughout the world, worked with children, and could always be found helping out in the kitchen.
She will be remembered for her caring nature, her big smile, her extraordinary cooking, her love for giraffes and southern gospel music, and her greatest love - Jesus Christ, her Savior.
Melinda is greatly missed by her friends and her family: loving parents, John & Mary Clements of Yuma; sisters and brothers-in-law, Candi Davenport, Chet & Kathy Crain of Yuma; Howard & Johnna Traver of Humboldt. Nieces and nephews; Josh & Brittainy Davenport, Jessica Davenport, John & Jenny Crain, Daniel & Katie Jiminez, Brittney Traver & Wesley Traver; great nephews and niece, Johnny & Sammy O'Donnell and Opal Crain.
Her memorial celebration will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 8558 E. Valley Rd, Prescott Valley, Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 4 P.M., dinner following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at the memorial service or sent to Baptist Mid-Missions, P.O. Box 308011, Cleveland, OH 44130-8011.
