Donald W. Elwood, age 97, of Reedsburg, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in the Sauk County Health Care Center. He was born on March 7, 1924 in the Town of Excelsior, Sauk County, the son of William and Mabel (Rudy) Elwood. Don was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage to the former Bertha S. Ihde on November 2, 1945. Don worked as a mechanic, delivered milk, worked as a cheesemaker, owned a gas station in LaValle and lastly worked at the Loganville Co-op. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, loved to travel especially out West and spending time with his family. Don will be remembered as a loving husband, dad and grandfather.

Survivors include his loving wife of seventy-five years: Bertha; three daughters: Judy (Jerry) Pfaff, of Hillpoint; Janet (Mike) Hanser, of Wyoming and Karen (Kent) Westphal, of Loganville; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Ilene Christopherson and Dorothy Gustina, both of Beloit; two sisters-in-law: Hildred Ihde, of Reedsburg and Joyce Elwood, of Beloit; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter: Lisa Pfaff; four sisters and three brothers.

A private family service will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. There will be a visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. The family is requesting that face masks be worn and social distancing be followed. Interment will be held at the Lime Ridge Cemetery with military honors provided by the Reedsburg V.F.W. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials to the Reedsburg United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
