Mr. Bowen, who was born in Virginia, was a custodian at Ball State University for 16 years, retiring in 1982. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Yorktown American Legion 321, Muncie Amvets, VFW Post 651, and Ball State Sympathy Club, and he attended Southside Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Martha M. Bowen; a daughter; a son; a stepdaughter; a brother; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and five stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Parson Mortuary. Burial with military rites will be in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Calling will be 4-8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
