Mary Elizabeth Duffany died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Roberts, Tuesday morning December 27th, 1921, in Keene, New York.

She was born at Jay, New York, April 1st, 1831, making her 90 years old.

She joined the Methodist Episcopal church at Jay while young and was a devoted Christian all her life.

She married Mitchell Duffany of Jay. Eight children were born to them of which six are left to mourn her departure; five daughters, Mrs. Isadore Lashway, Mrs. Frankie Sheldon, Mrs. Anna Roberts, Mrs. Louis Betters and Mrs. Celia Smith, and one son Otis Duffany; also three brothers, Culver Blanchard, Fred Blanchard and Peter Blanchard.

She had been in poor health several years but the last year she had been a helpless invalid in the home where she died, being tenderly cared for by her children and granddaughter, Elizabeth Roberts. She was a patient sufferer, never complaining of her own trouble, but always thoughtful for others. She will be greatly missed by her dear ones.

Her funeral we held at the home Thursday, December 29th, 1921, Rev. R. E. Dunckle officiating. He spoke comforting words from Psalm. She was laid to rest in the cemetery at Jay.
