Former Pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In 1868, an outbreak of yellow fever occurred. He prayed to St. Roch to help relieve their misery. He made a vow to build a chapel to the saint if the members of his church were spared. Not a single member died from the illness. He built the chapel and added the cemetery around it. When Father Thevis died his remains were placed under the chapel altar.
