Frank Hackman a well know citizen died very suddenly at 12:30 o'clock this morning at his home on South Line Street from neuralgia of the heart. Mr. Hackman retired early in evening feeling guite well and slept peacefully until 12:15 when he awakened with severe pain in his chest which seemed to shut off his breathing. He immediately called to his wife who was sitting up with their sick niece, Miss Bertha Hackman, who is seriously ill with typhoid fever and not expected to live. She relieved his suffering somewhat by applying liniment to his chest. The relief was only for a few minutes and the terrible pains came back much more severe than the first attack. Mr Hackman then stepped outside in the effort to get some fresh air coming back into the house a few seconds later suffering more than before and lay on the bed. He took a few deep breaths, groaned and moaned a few minutes and passed into the next world before any assistance could be given to him.

Franis Henry Hackman was born in Mauch Chunk, PA., on the 24 day of July 1856 and came to Decatur when about three years old with his mother. He lived here during his entire life and was numbered among the early settlers of Decatur. He was 58 years and 20 days old. In Oct 1883 he married Miss Anna Mary Pio and to this happy union were born four children, one of whom died when only six years old.His occupation was that of a painter and paper hanger but owing to his failing health in the past few years he was not permitted to do much work.
