Garland Ayers Jr. – Colorado
NASHVILLE – Garland Ayers died Oct 29 at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Hospital,
Denver, after a two-week illness. He was the son of Tressa Mae Hamblen Ayers of
Columbus Route 6 and the late Garland Ayers Sr.
Ayers born Dec 19, 1932, in Brown County, was a U.S. Army retiree.
Other survivors include two sons, Jack and Lennie Ayers, and a daughter Stacey
Ayers, all of Colorado Springs; three brothers, Robert E. Ayers of Nashville,
Michael K. Ayers of Indianapolis and John P. Ayers who is stationed with the
Army at Heilbron, Germany, and eight sisters, Maxine Melton of Columbus, Betty
Shaw of Flat Rock, Ruth Good of Indianapolis, Edna Thomas of Greenfield, Linda
Purdy of Streamwood, Ill, Mary Lou Weihott of Louisville, Helen Gregg of
Virginia Beach, Va., and Janet Carnarius of Sarasota, Fla.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bond Funeral Home by
the Rev. Kenneth Kritzer. Persons may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral
home. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
