Victim. Rebecca disappeared on December 3, 1982, at South 216th and Pacific Highway South. The remains of Marie Malvar were found Sept. 28, 2003 in the same general area where Marrero was found. Ridgway was convicted in the Malvar homicide and was questioned extensively in 2003 about Marrero's disappearance. The statements of Rebecca's killer vary. Some reports is that Ridgeway admitted to killing her and others state he was never charged with her murder. Her remains were found in the same area as so many other Green River victims. Rebecca was friends with another Green River victim, Debra Estes. Rebecca also had a three year old daughter at the time of her disappearance. Her remains were returned to her family in 2010 after they were found in the ravine, and she was finally laid to rest. She was twenty years old at the time of her disappearance. It is believed she was a murder victim of Gary Leon Ridgway, known as "The Green River Killer" who was responsible for the murder of 49 women in Seattle, Washington, between 1982 and 1984.
