Father of 6 Children. One son, Davis F. Grainger (b. December 18, 1906), died in childhood.
------------------------------------
Tombstone Discrepancy Note:
There seems to be an error on his marker, which states that his birthday was in December 1880. However, on the 1880 US Census he is listed as 9 months old, with his older sister being 2 years old and their father a widower. His mother died on January 5, 1880 (according to her stone).
Where his family lived, the 1880 census was taken on the 21st and 22nd day of June and was to only include individuals living on the 1st day of June 1880. No children born after June were to be listed (so why would Davis be on there?) Family that had died since that date were to be listed.
------------------------------------
Burt was raised by his two aunts on a farm adjacent to his father's.
------------------------------------
In 1900, newly-married Davis and his wife Ida are living in the same household as his aunts Atha and Patience.
