Melvin R. Florence, age 73, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, husband of Jeanene Florence, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011. Born in Nicholas County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Carine and Virgil "Buck" Florence. Melvin was a retired Sergeant 1st Class with the United States Army and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Besides his wife, he is survived by: nine children, Steve Florence, Lisa Florence, Kim Florence, Stephanie Florence, John David Florence, Frank Florence, John Walter Hagans, Jimmy Hagans and Thomas Hagans; numerous grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Winnie Ritchie and Nancy Sue Fryman.
Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, by Dr. Jay Robison. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
