Howard R. Longstreth, 73, a retired maintenance supervisor, died Sunday at his Jenkintown home.
Mr. Longstreth was born in Rockledge and graduated from the former Rockledge High School.
After working on his family's farm and as a brakeman and conductor for the former Pennsylvania Railroad, he served in the Navy as a motor machinist's mate in the Pacific from 1944 to 1946.
He worked in sales and as a truck driver for several years after the war, and in the 1960s and 1970s worked in the maintenance department at Abington Memorial Hospital. From 1977 until his retirement in 1994, he was maintenance supervisor at
Chestnut Hill Rehabilitation Hospital and at the Springfield Residence retirement facility.
Mr. Longstreth was a member of McKeown-Zane VFW Post 1711 in Jenkintown, William Bolton Dixon American Legion Post 10 in Fort Washington and the Hospital Engineers Association of the Delaware Valley, which he had served as treasurer since 1980.
He moved to Jenkintown 24 years ago after living in Ambler for five years.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Pauline Rohrbach Longstreth; daughters Eileen Barnes, Susan Clark, Helen Clark, Sherry Longstreth, Brenda Reimel and Joanne Reimel; sons Joseph Reimel, Howard Longstreth and Robert Clark; and 15
grandchildren.
Friends and relatives may call after 10:30 a.m. today at Helweg Funeral Service, 463 Old York Rd., Jenkintown, where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Susquehanna and Easton Roads, Roslyn.
