Byron L. Crosby, 85, of Pana, died Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 8:30 p.m. in his residence.
He was born December 30, 1919 in Mineral, Kansas, the son of James Henry & Myrtle Holbert Crosby. He was raised in Tower Hill, and came to Pana in 1947. He was a hoisting engineer in the coal mine and loved carpentry and his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pana and United Mine Workers.
Byron married Pearl Esta Walker on May 18, 1940 in Shelbyville. She survives in Pana along with their children: Gerald Crosby & wife Judy, James Crosby & wife Jean, Curtis Crosby & wife Rose, all of Pana, Steven Crosby & wife Gina, Mc Donough, GA, Marshall Crosby & wife Mickey, Jonesboro, GA and Gail Hawker & husband Bill, Pana, IL; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Herbert Crosby & sister, Henrietta Culberson.

Funeral services will be Sunday, December 18, 2005 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor John Hippard and Pastor Larry Gruis officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
