Catherine Honoria Hume was daughter of Joseph Samuel Hume, and his wife Eliza Smyth.

She married William Hume Blake, Esquire, in 1832.

Catherine and William had 4 children:
1. Dominick Edward Blake, born October 13, 1833 in Adelaide Township.
2. Samuel Hume Blake, born August 31, 1835 in Toronto, Ontario
3. Sophia Eliza Blake, born July 27, 1837 in Toronto, Ontario
4. Ann Margaret Blake, born in 1840 in Toronto, Ontario

Catherine and William along with William’s brother immigrated to Canada in 1832, when William’s brother was appointed as the English rector in Adelaide Township, Middlesex County, Ontario. Catherine and William settled in the Bear Creek area near Strathroy, Ontario.

In the Fall of 1838, the family moved to Toronto, Ontario, where Catherine served on the Committee of Management of the Toronto General Hospital and of the Female Emigrant Society. Catherine also earned a living giving music and language lessons.

Her death on 3 February 1886, resulted from an accident.
