The Reaper
Dr. F. M. BISSELL
In Fergus Falls, Friday November 28th, of inflammatory rheumatism F. M. Bissell, aged 46 years.
Most of our citizens remember with pleasure the genial jovial, great-hearted Dr. Bissell, who has been a resident of the village for several years up to the spring of 1883, when he removed to Fergus Falls. He was a very successful veterinary surgeon, and enjoyed a fine practice. Although of apparently fine physique, Dr. Bissell has been a great sufferer from pulmonary affection for many years, and on several occasions his life has been despaired of. There is no doubt but his strong will, supplemented by painstaken self-care, prolonged his life for years.
Upon the removal of his sister, Mrs. E. B. Hanna, to Fergus Falls, the doctor left this village to make his home with her, and until a month ago enjoyed good health. Exposure brought an attack of inflammatory rheumatism and aggravated the deep-seated lung disease, and after a month of suffering death came to his relief on Friday evening last week. His sister Mrs. A. O. Mattison of this village, and his only brother from Red Wing were summoned to his bed side, arriving in time to secure parting recognition.
His remains were brought to this village on Saturday for internment, accompanied by his brother and two sister(sic). The funeral services were held in the Congregational church, and he was laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery.
