C. A. Fesler born in Belmont County, Ohio, August 25, 1845 and died at Palco, Kansas, May 17, 1919, age 73 years, 8 months, and 21 days. He was married March 5, 1868, to Emma J. Baxter, Orleanes County, Vermont. To this union were born 13 children --- 6 girls and 7 boys, all growing to maturity except one girl Velma, born in Rooks county, Kansas, October 31, 1887 and died February 24, 1888. The other 12 are as follows, Ellen R. Morris of Bogue, Kansas; Asenath Meade, Palco, Kansas; Euphemia Fesler, Plainville, Kansas; Henry Fesler, Hayes Center, Nebraska; Mrs. Jennie Anderson, Shaw, Colorado; Frank C. Fesler, Born, in Ottawa Co., Kansas Dec. 3, 1877, married to Mabel Acheson, February 20,1907, died February 26, 1910; Bertha H. Fike, Carthage, Mo.; Thomas Fesler, Glen, Colo.; James G. Fesler, Palco, Kansas; Allen S. Fesler, Manzanola, Colo.; Ray Fesler, Palco, Kansas; Malen G. Fesler, Palco, Kansas.
He resided at Lewis, Cass county, Iowa, until 1875 moving to Great Bend, Kansas, here he lived two years. He then moved to Ottawa, Kansas, moving to Alton, Osborne Co., Kansas, where he resided a short time moving from there to Rooks Co., in 1878 where he has since resided. He was elected to the office of county treasurer of Rooks county in 1891 serving in this office for four years. He then returned to his ranch at Green Mound and remained until 1901 when he moved to Palco, where he has since resided until his death May 17, 1919, surrounded by his wife and all his children except two.
Mr. Fesler united with the M. E. church in 1909 and has been a faithful member thru all these years and died in the Faith of his Christ who had been sufficient for him in this life.
He enlisted in Co. I. of the first regular Illinois Light Artillery in Nov. 1863, was discharged July 1865. Was promoted to the rank of Corp., was wounded, once captured during his three years of service. The funeral obsequies were held at the Township Hall which was filled to capacity. The sermon was preached by his pastor, Rev. Bethel Cook. The pall bearers were soldiers of the world war, who have returned from overseas. Interment was made in the Green Mound cemetery.
