Jerome G. Hohenstein, 51, of 903 Feldkamp Ave., an Inspector at Allis Chalmers Mfg. Co., was dead on arrival at 3:40 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Hospital. According to Coroner W. C. Telford, Mr. Hohenstein collapsed while at work. Coroner said he apparently died of a heart attack and he will hold an inquiry. Born in Chicago, Mr. Hohenstein was the son of Albert E. and Ellen Gibbons Hohenstein of Springfield and had been a resident of Springfield his entire life. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church and Allis Chalmers Foreman's Club.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his widow, Veta A.; one son, Richard Michael at home; one sister, Mrs. Mary Warner of Woodstock, Va.; three brothers, Vincent V. and Albert Edward Hohenstein Jr. both of Springfield and John A. Hohenstein of Rivera, Calif. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Aloysius Schwarz will officate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Remains are at Staab Funeral Home.
