Harbard and Nancy Mary Lyon were married on 27 Sep 1848 in Shelby County, Kentucky. They moved to Plesantville, Marion County, Iowa where most of their children were born.

Harbard was a teamster and, during the War of Southern Independence, supplied the Confederacy with horses, mules, wagons and supplies; although he "often" did not have clear title to the animals.

Their daughter, Mary Harrison "Mollie" Oliver, was our great grandmother (15 Feb 1853-28 Aug 1896). She married James Franklin "Frank" Logan (06 Dec 1852- 07 Feb 1926) in Des Moines, Iowa. There were nine children born to them, of whom three died in infancy, the other six married and children of their own.
