CIVIL WAR VETERAN, PRIVATE, CO. G, 7TH CALIFORNIA INFANTRY
Notes by Laurence Overmire, genealogist and Overmyer family historian, updated May 2022:
Edward was a miner in 1860. He fought in the Civil War and in 1880 was living in Grass Valley, Nevada Co., CA, with his sister-in-law Zilpha (Vanderbilt) Overmyer, widow of his brother Isaac. He married his second wife Honore "Nora" Calanan about 1885. They had a son Lawrence Edward Overmyer, born 28 Dec. 1886, in Marysville, Yuba County, California. Edward was killed in a wagon accident. While driving down a steep grade, he lost control of the horses and was dragged underneath the wagon. By the time rescuers came to his aid, he was deceased.
