Grady Edward Estes SAN MARCOS Grady Edward Estes, a 12-year San Marcos resident, died July 29 at a local hospital. He was 73.
Born Feb. 21, 1915, in Cravens, he lived in Dunsmuir, before moving to San Marcos.
He was a Southern Baptist minister and served in churches in Louisiana, Oregon, Arkansas, Texas and California. He last served as pastor for the Broadway Baptist Church in Escondido. He retired in 1981.
He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Escondido. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jessie; daughter, Lois Richmond of San Marcos; son, Edward Estes of Escondido; sister, Goldie Wall of Lake Charles, and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Alhiser-Wilson Mortuary Escondido Chapel. A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Swartz officiating. Burial will be Wednesday at the Merryville Cemetery in Merryville, La. Alhiser-Wilson Mortuary is handling arrangements.
