Ernest Clifton Amerman, son of Peter and Ann Amerman, died at St. Bernice, Vermillion County, IN, May 8, 1887, aged 3 years, 8 months, and 16 days.

Those fond Christian parents were anxious to keep this little one, having been called to give up two others, one at the age of 7 years, and the other at the age of 1 year and 9 months. But their love and deep anxiety and all the medical skill could not prevent man's last enemy from striking the fatal blow. Short was the stay of little Cliffie, few were his days and fall of suffering, being afflicted with spinal disease. A brief stay, a few bright smiles and the angels called him away to join his two little brothers that had passed on before. He leaves behind a father and mother, two sisters, and one brother to mourn his loss.
