PUTNAM - Leodore "Leo" Langevin,90, of Ella Grasso Gardens, 65 Ballou st.
died Dec. 19 2000, at Day Kimball Hospital after an illness. He was born in Southbridge, Mass., May 11, 1910, a son of Benjamin and Octavie (Davignon) Langevin and spent his early years living in Southbridge, later moving to Mechanicsville.
Mr. Langevin was 32 years old when he enlisted in military service in 1942. He served with Company G 325th Glider Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division. While serving in the Army in Europe, he also served as a bands man, playing the
French horn. He participated in the battles of Rhineland, Central Europe and the Ardennes. In May 1945 he was wounded in action and later recieved th Purple Heart. He also recieved the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Belgian Fouragier and the Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged from military service in December 1945
with the last rank of private first class. Mr. Langevin enjoyed making a very large garden each summer.
The Funeral Mass was Dec. 22, 2000, at St. Joseph Church,North Grosvenordale, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors.
