Funeral Services For Delmar Blackmore Held
Funeral services were held last Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Peet Mortuary in Lusk for M/Sgt. Floyd Delmar Blackmore, who died January 20 at his home in Burkburnette, Tex.
The Rev. Howard Osborne of the Presbyterian Church of Torrington officiated. Chaplain Darrel C. Highsmith was in charge of the Military services at the cemetery.
Casket bearers were Arthur Clark, Robert A. Hestor, Ronald N. Pyles, Harold W. Watson, Harry M. Brannan and Stephen Rozie Jr. all of the Warren Air Force Base, Cheyenne.
Honorary bearers were Gordon Kaan, Bernard Thon, Bob Vollmer, Wilmar Baars, Claude Redding, Paul Morgan, Helmuth Klemke and Del Alter.
Mrs. J. P. Watson furnished organ music and played "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me."
Floyd Delmar Blackmore was born in Lusk, Oct. 18, 1917, and lived here until 1940. He was married to Vera Powell at Scottsbluff, Nebr., Aug. 28, 1940.
The rest of his life was spent in military service. He was on submarine duty off the west coast during World War II, and served overseas during the Korean conflict. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Death came at the age of 50, without warning but quietly, at his home in Burkburnette, Tex., January 20.
Surviving are his widow, Vera; one son, Clyde of Altus, Okla.; six brothers, Theron of Casper, Wyo.; Edward of Washington, D. C.; Harold of McCleary, Wash.; Guy of Los Angeles, Calif.; Clyde of Lusk; and Bruce Eugene of Dallas, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Anna May Lint of Arlington, Va.
His parents and four brothers died previously.
Out-of-town relatives attending the services besides his widow, Vera and son Clyde and Mrs. Blackmore were Mr. and Mrs. Theron Blackmore, Casper; Harold Blackmore, McCleary; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Eugene Blackmore, Dallas; Mrs. James (Anna May) Lint, Arlington; Mrs. Bill Travert, Chadron; Mrs. Alva Leathers, Mrs. Melvin McIntosh and Mrs. June Leathers, all of Oregon; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Powell, Mountain View, Ida.; Marvin Powell, Los Angeles, Calif. and Mr. and Mrs. James Powell of Guernsey, Wyo.
