ESCANABA - Marjorie Anne Johnsen, 74, 4877 Delta 17.8 Drive, Escanaba, lost her courageous fight of cancer surrounded by her family on Friday, April 29, 2011.

She was born on Dec. 6, 1936, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. to Shirley and Eva (Hahn) Werner. Her family later moved to Pittsville, Wis., where she graduated in 1956.

On June 8, 1957, Marjorie married the love of her life, Richard E. Johnsen. They met at Stout College in Wisconsin.

Marge enjoyed the love of hockey with her husband "Dick" and will be remembered for her rice crispy treats and hot chocolate at the Soo Hill ice rink. She also was by Dick's side with his involvement with the Well's Lion's Club.

She enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing, reading and embroidering. She had her own embroidery business in her home for many years where she embroidered many hockey jerseys, bowling shirts, jackets and towels.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Marge was a loving mom to her three children, Randy (Debbie) Johnsen of Escanaba, Pam (Dan) Weddig of Gladstone and David (Geraldine) Johnsen of Wilson. She was a loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren, Joe, Matt (Carrie), Katie, Ryan, Aaron and Adam Johnsen, Meagan (Luke) Guindon, Mandi Prim, Justin Webber and Kyle Johnsen. She also was a great-grandmother to Quentin and Makenna Johnsen. She is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Parker and Mary Sherwood, both of Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Johnsen in 2007; and infant daughter, Lori Ann in 1957.

Special thank you to the Marquette General Hospice nurses, aides and social worker.

Visitation will be on Monday, May 2, from 4-6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba with the funeral service to follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Erik Heskin officiating. A luncheon will follow in the dining area following the service.
