Clara Sams, 81, died June 17, 2003, at Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson, KS.
She was born May 15, 1922, at Murray, Ark., the daughter of James L. and Rhonda B. Self. She had been a resident of Nickerson for 41 years, moving to Hutchinson, three years ago. She was an evening houskeeping supervisor for Hutchinson Hospital from 1962 to 1991.
On July 27, 1937, she married Colman Sams at Boxley, Ark. He died Feb. 18, 1983.
Surviors include; a son, Edgar, Sterling; two daughters, Virginia Rich, and Carolyn Sams, both of Nickerson; two sisters, Mabel Taylor, Overland Park, KS., and Maxine Adams, Morrellton, Ark.; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two daughters; three brothers; and two sisters.
