William Roland Land, age 70, died Saturday, August 20, 1938, at the Elizabeth Hospital at Prairie Grove, Arkansas.

He was born October 22, 1867 at Spartanburg, South Carolina, the son of John Summerfield and Sarah A. (Russom) Land.

He and Clara Ann Strong were married October 7, 1896, at Fort Smith, Arkansas.

He was a member of the Methodist Church at Fayetteville.

He was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors.

He spent 42 years as Conductor on the central division of the Frisco Railroad, located most of the time in Fort Smith, and more recently at Fayetteville and Monett, Missouri.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Maclin Rufus Land and David H. Land; and two sisters, Alma P. Land and Eva Elizabeth Craig.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, W. R. Land Jr. of Cane Hill and Paul F. Land of Fort Smith; a daughter, Hazel Dabney of Fayetteville; and a sister Julia Land of Atlanta, Georgia.

Funeral Service will be at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 21, 1938 at Central Methodist Church with the Reverand Warren Johnson officiating.

Burial is in the Fairview cemetery at Fayetteville.
