On May 16, 1939, Ione was united in marriage to Harold M. Walberg at Garfield, MN. After their marriage they farmed in the Kensington, Brandon and Evansville area. Harold passed away on August 13, 1961. Ione continued to farm until 1966. She then moved into Evansville and she went to work for the Bethany Homes in Alexandria as a cook where she worked until she retired in 1991.
Ione was a member of the Calvary Covenant Church for 72 years, and Covenant Women. Her hobbies included ceramics, needle point, and fabric painting. She was an avid quilter, making quilts for all her children, and as special graduation gifts for all her grandchildren. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, and loved cooking and baking for them. Her grandchildren have fond memories of the aromas of Grandma's house, and knew there would always be cookies to sample.
