Inscription

From Bessie Long Cowart, Daughter of Melinda & Robert Luther Long:

"Melinda was a housewife. She died of a stroke. She had milked the cow, taken the milk and set it up and went out on the porch and sat down. I (Bessie) was 18 years old. I had gone home with Dora and Will to help take care of their little boy Julius. We were on our way home and when I got in sight of home, I saw Mother limp, down in her chair. We got her in her bed and she lived one week. [Not] one time during that week she didn't eat. One time she took a cup of water in the middle of the week."
